Goods-to-person

With the goods-to-person principle, goods are transported semi-automatically or automatically to the order picker instead of the order picker having to move to the storage locations. This reduces walking distances and increases efficiency in warehouse operations.

How it works

Shelf conveyors or automatic systems such as storage and retrieval machines transport the required items directly to the picker's workstation. The picker removes the goods at a fixed point, eliminating search and transport times. The goods-to-person principle is particularly advantageous in automated warehouses with high item turnover.

Advantages

  • Time savings: By eliminating walking and searching times, picking speed can be significantly increased.
  • Ergonomics: The picker remains at a fixed workstation, reducing physical strain.
  • Error reduction: Automated systems minimize human error during picking.
  • Flexibility: The systems can be adapted to different requirements and expanded as needed.

Areas of application

The goods-to-man system is particularly suitable for warehouses with high item turnover, such as those found in the electronics, fashion, or food industries. It is ideal for picking small to medium-sized orders and can be used in both automated and semi-automated environments.
