What does CEP mean?

The term "CEP" stands for courier, express and parcel. It covers services that specialize in the delivery of goods and documents - regardless of whether it is the fast, lightning-fast delivery of a small parcel or the punctual delivery of a larger piece of freight.

How do CEP services work?

When a parcel needs to be transported from A (sender) to B (recipient), CEP services come into play.

We have briefly outlined the process:
Collection: The courier service collects the shipment from the sender. This can either be at a fixed location or at an address specified by the sender.

Sorting and transport: The consignments are sorted in a distribution center and then transported to their destination using various means of transport such as trucks, planes or bicycle couriers.

Delivery: The recipient receives their goods. Delivery can take place at their address, at a pick-up point or at a specified location.

The variety of CEP services

There are various service providers within the CEP sector, each offering a different range of products and services.

  1. courier services:
When things are urgent and no valuable time needs to be wasted, courier services are the ideal solution. Whether it's a document, contract or small parcel, the shipment will be delivered within a few hours.

  2. express services:
Lightning-fast national and international shipping is available to those who opt for express shipping. This service specializes in transporting shipments quickly over long distances.

  3. parcel services:
The well-known classic among parcel services. It offers a wide range of services, from simple parcel delivery to special services such as pick-up stations and packing stations.

  4. same-day delivery:
Same-day delivery promises delivery on the day the order is placed. This service has taken the e-commerce world by storm and is characterized by a high degree of flexibility.

KEP vs. freight forwarding: what's the difference?

While CEP services focus on the fast and individual delivery of shipments, freight forwarders are concerned with the transportation of larger goods and freight items over longer distances.
While freight forwarders take care of the organization and execution of the transport, including loading, storage and insurance of the goods, CEP services, on the other hand, focus on the last mile, i.e. direct delivery to the end customer.
Both service providers therefore complement each other in logistics to ensure the smooth movement of goods.
